Temple of Science Opens

Sunrise at Temple

The Temple of Science at the GMG sim has officially opened. The build does look a bit like a temple, but it's not a house of worship. Rather, it presents interesting scientists and concepts in an unexpected way. As you would expect in a museum, there are exhibits with informational placards, but the unique part of the exhibits are the links to video and webpages with more in-depth articles. Even for a fairly unscientific person, the exhibits offer an interesting perspective for learning about science.

Geekspeak isn't solely for geeks

Erik Goff leads the lively discussion on Saturdays at noon SLT on Edutopia (SLurl) at Geekspeak. The group has been small and not geeky so far, but happily engaging in discussions of various contemporary and sometimes controversial topics. Last Saturday, for example, the main topic was "the end of oil."

You don't need to have any previous knowledge of the topics and you won't feel uncomfortable expressing your opinion. It's a relaxed and accepting group. Join the group at Edutopia to receive notices. Perhaps you would even like to suggest a topic for next week. The topic for June19 is singularity or the point in time where technology goes so fast we cant keep up anymore.

More Than A Game

If you haven’t heard, Second Life is a growing trend in the virtual-sim market. It’s not a game, not just a game I should say.

In 1999, Philip Rosedale founded LindenLab “to create a revolutionary new form of shared experience known as Second Life®

Second Life  or SL, is a 3D virtual world created and owned by the players, or “residents” as SL calls us. One can buy, own, and sell land, clothes, pets, castles, gestures, scripts, hair, grass, body parts, poses, dances…the possibilities are truly endless.
